PSP gets virtual console

The recent PSP update points to Sony’s handheld console getting a ‘virtual console’ of its own.

As reported in Kotaku, the PSP update, which happened at the same time as the PS3 firmware update, installs two new folders on the PSP navigation bar – one called “PCEngine,” the other, “Neogeo.”

Games on both retro systems have been emulated on the PSP for some time in Japan.

Sony’s got a bit of a jump on Nintendo with this one. Fans have been calling for a virtual console on the DSi to complement DSiWare since the initial launch of the console.
