PlayStaton firmware update allows video editing

Sony has announced a new firmware update for the PS3 that brings a bevy of new social networking features to the multimedia console.

According to Industry Gamers, video editing will be possible after the update. The XrossMediaBar will be getting a video tab that allows users to save, edit and upload files on the PS3, which can then be shared on Youtube and Facebook.

The update is also preparing for the PlayStation Plus premium service.

A PSP update is also available.

Sony has had video editing solutions available to the market on PCs for a long time, with its Vegas software package.
