The Xbox 360, a console that has traditionally struggled in the Japanese market, has had a massive boost in popularity.
15,000 units of the console were shifted in the first week on sale - a big increse on last week's 2,060 units.
Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier Online, an Xbox exclusive entry for a wildly popular franchise in Japan, helped boost hardware sales, itself taking the #1 position for software sale.
Despite the boost in numbers, the Xbox 360 still lagged behing the DSi LL, PSP, PS3 and Nintendo Wii.
Earlier today emerged a debate over whether the Xbox 360 would experience a steady decline in hardware sales as it enter the last phases of its lifecycle.
