PlayStation VidZone gets EMI boost

Sony's PlayStation VidZone service has had a significant boost, with major record label, EMI, signing on to provide content.

The EMI music catalogue includes artists such as Coldplay, Katy Perry, Iron Maiden, David Bowie, Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk.

The catalogue joins some 25,000 existing music videos on the VidZone service, available for free streaming through the PlayStation 3 console.

In a release, VidZone director of content and marketing, Louisa Jackson, said the service has had some 450 million instances of music streaming since its 2009 launch.

"EMI's launch on VididZone is great news for our fans who have been building an unofficial chart of their most wanted EMI acts - led by Coldplay," she said in the release.
