Sony’s bid to make the PlayStation 3 an entertainment unit beyond games has a new feature to spruik in Australia, with the vendor announcing a new partnership with Yahoo!7.
Australian consumers will have access to the PLUS7 service in Australia – a catch-up TV channel that will be available from the end of August 2010. The service complements the ABC’s iView service Sony brought to the Playstation 3 in November 2009, and the more recent VidZone music channel.
Yesterday in Sydney, Sony Computer Entertainment and Yahoo!7 executives successfully trialled the first demonstration of PLUS7 catch-up TV programming streamed to a PS3.
